Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Asbury college in Wilmore, Kentucky (1982); a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas (1986); and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia (1988).

Pastor Jody has published a book entitled, Baptism: Deeper than Water. Jody also hosts a daily radio program at 3:30 pm on WRAF 90.9 FM. "The Jody Hice Show " confronts today's culture war from a Christian world view.

He was the head of the Preaching Department at Luther Rice Seminary where he also taught practical theology to students and church leaders, both on-campus and internationally. Pastor Jody is a Seminar Instructor with Walk Thru the Bible Ministries, and is a Chaplain for the BCFES.

Pastor Jody and his wife, Dee Dee, have two beautiful daughters, Anna & Sara. Pastor Jody has been at BFBC since 1998.
